Picasa: Understanding The Concept of Collections
Part 2: Picasa Albums
This collection includes albums that you make in Picasa. You can
use albums to combine and order pictures based on your own way and named by a
simple word or header. For example, you can make an album named "Flowers" to
combine all of your pictures of flowers, or you might make an album like "Trip
to the Grand Canyon" to order all of your recent vacation pictures. Unlike the
"Folders" collection, which groups the matches exactly the folder places on
your computer, albums don't match folders on your hard drive. Albums are seen
only in Picasa and are like a virtual "playlist" of pictures you have combined.
If you remove or move inside the Albums collection, the original files remain
in their original places on your hard drive. You can add the exact picture to
more than one album without making more than one copy of the exact picture on
disk. Any changes you make to a picture in an album will be applied to every
minute of the picture in Picasa, including the original in your Folders
collection.
• Create a new album. First, click one or pictures
(you can't make an empty album). Click "File" then click "New Album" to make a
new album in Picasa including the pictures that have been selected. You can do
the exact thing by selecting a picture, select the "Add To" selection to the
right of the Photo Tray, and click "New Album" on the popup list.
• Add a photo to an existing album. The exact
picture can be assigned to many albums in Picasa. Click a picture, select the
"Add To" selection to the right of the Photo Tray, and click a created album
from the popup list.
• Change an album description. Click on the
description of any album two times to open the "Album Properties" box. Type a
new title for the album. You can also change the album's date, place taken, or
title. Any information that describes the album you add will be searchable in
Picasa. When you're finished, select the "OK" selection.
• Delete a photo from an album. Click a picture.
Right-click with your mouse and click "Remove from Album" in the menu or tap
Delete on your keyboard. Note: Removing a picture from an album doesn't remove
the original picture from your computer's hard drive.
• Rearrange photos in an album or between albums. Select
and drag a picture to arrange its order within an album or drag it into another
album. This doesn't affect the order in which the original pictures that are on
your computer.
Note: An album in Picasa isn't the exact as a
Picasa Web Album. The Album collection doesn't show you the pictures you may
have downloaded to the internet.
